What to Expect from Fred's Camp Facilities

Camp Activities:

Fred’s Camp urban setting has a 50,000-square-foot green oasis. The Quad is reserved for picnics, outdoor water play, athletics, and fun and games. It’s also home to our weekly cookouts serving Fred’s Fabulous Franks.

Fred’s Camp campers have use of the 120,000-square-foot Ray Meyer Fitness & Recreation Center, located at 2235 N. Sheffield. This air-conditioned, state-of-the-art facility opened in September 1999. The Ray Meyer Fitness & Recreation Center affords Fred’s Camp use of its basketball courts, a 25-meter lap pool and multi-purpose rooms for various classes exclusively offered to Fred’s Camp campers.

We are thrilled that our campers get the opportunity to play on Wish Field, home of the DePaul University soccer teams.

Prior to the 2005 season, the facility received a complete facelift with a FieldTurf surface installed, a soccer-only press box, new scoreboard and team benches. The setup is unique in that the DePaul softball program is able to use the field in the Spring when the FieldTurf tray system allows the facility to be converted into a softball field. During the summer Fred’s Campers are able to play and compete on a state of the art Division I facility.

Getting Around:

With the Chicago Transit Authority’s “L” trains rumbling by every few minutes, Wish Field is a one-of-a-kind facility that gives a true urban setting for Fred’s Camp campers. Wish Field is nestled in the heart of DePaul’s Lincoln Park campus and is the home to the DePaul men’s and women’s soccer programs. Wish Field is located on Belden Ave. just east of the Fullerton “L” station.
